We're at the in-laws for Easter, and it's been rather mouvementé around here.
First off, my MIL is in a bit of a tizzy because my sister-in-law is Jewish and it's passover and she's not eating any dishes with flour or yeast. This of course means no pretzels for her, or feuilleté avec saumon, or cake. This being the first time my in-laws have ever personally known a Jew, they are both confused by the traditions and a bit bothered since they have arrived "out of nowhere" and require menu modifications or special treatment (and you know how the French are against special treatment).
Next, a mouse was sighted in the kitchen this morning. He managed to dash off through the 1 inch square whole in the wall around the water pipes in the cellier, but the "worst" of it all was that the cat was right there and didn't move. The cat was subsequently traité de tous les noms.
Then when my brother-in-law, his girlfriend and B's cousin arrived with their dog in tow, the dog proceeded to poop in the living room before anyone had put down their bags. B's parents' dog immediatly bee lined towards to poop to check it out and maybe eat it, but luckily she was stopped in time.
My friend Rebecca sent me a Paas easter egg kit and it turned out that my MIL had some old eggs she'd been meaning to throw out. I hard boiled them (though they won't be eaten later) and B helped me color them (he thought it was too cool) and later once they were dry his brother helped me put stickers on them.
But while I was gently rubbing an egg in order to put the plastic design around it (to be melted around the egg), I accidently squeezed too hard and cracked the egg. And of course the egg hadn't been fulling hard boiled so there was some liquid that leaked out. I kind of saved it by wrapping it in saran wrap and luckily it had been dyed red which was really bright.
Well, it's time to eat, so hopefully it will pass peacefully. C'est mal parti...

Who is Jewish? JB's girlfriend?
Yeah, her family is Tunisian-Jewish, apparentely called séfarade.
