Living in a sardine can

One of B's friends was profiled on the France 5 show "On n'est pas que des parents" on the 28th for a story on living as a couple in 25 m2.

To see the story, click on the link, then pick Mardi 28 avril. I think shows are only available for a week online, so you'll have to see it before next Tuesday.

The first part of the show is about self-help books for men (a recent phenomenon in France apparently), different categories of men (metro-sexual, uber-sexual, etc), and then there's an American with a bad accent who talks about obesity in the States and how Michelle Obama is going to fight it. You can skip all that, and go directly to the part on living together in a small space.

B and I are lucky to have a 50m2 (plus garage) apartment here in Toulouse, and we've only had to share a studio for one summer (when I was a student in Montpellier). Wow was that difficult. I can't imagine living for a year or more in a studio, and think that's one of the reasons we really don't want to move to the Parisian area (price of rent might force us to take a really small apartment).

Anyway, check out the show. It's an interesting look at what it means to live in a really small apartment as a couple. Ignore the psychologist though. He spouts some Freudian nonsense about women and men, but he doesn't talk a ton, so it's okay. B's friend is Aurelie, the one who's apartment we see (as opposed to the guests in the studio).

We are thinking of moving to Toulouse in a few months time as a couple. Would love to hear any tips you may have on finding an apartment!
