This isn't really my story, but rather my husband's, but I thought it deserved a blog post.

A few days ago, my husband was driving back from a store outside of Toulouse and passed a video rental place with a handwritten sign "Déstockage: tout à 5€" (Clearance sale: everything for 5€).

Since we much prefer to watch a movie during/after dinner instead of the TV and are always looking for good movies, he parked the car and went in to see what was available.

The man behind the counter was pale and poorly shaved, with the little hair he still had long and greasy and combed across his forehead to hide his baldness. Next the cash register there were boxed sets of rubber ducky vibrators and other sex toys. Senior citizens browsed the aisles and bought piles of porn movies.

Luckily there were regular DVD's as well, so we now have all three Ocean's movies, The Other Boleyn Girl, Les Deux Mondes, Lost in Translation, and a couple others.

At the cash register the owner offered some movies on tape for only 50¢, but B declined since we don't have a tape player anymore.

B said it was the creepiest video rental place he'd ever been, but then maybe that was why it was closing and selling all its stock.
