Le bal de Brotto Lopez

The community band I play in is accompanying a former student of our conductor in order to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the musical duo "Brotto Lopez" the former student created.

If anyone knows Les Ogres de Barback, the duo has a similar style and actually collaborated with them several times.

We'll be accompanying the duo on this song (re-written to include some extra parts for the band) as well as a bunch more.

You can listen to a couple more songs here: http://www.lecamom.com/le-bal-brotto-lopez/

The whole concert lasts a bit more than an hour, which has meant a lot of work for us to learn the music and then get used to playing with the duo and a pianist. We'll be doing the concert three times: Auch, Toulouse, and Moissac.

During a couple parts of the concert we have to sing, but in Occitan and even Gascon!

If you don't know traditional French music (or don't like it), I really like the modern twist Brotto Lopez and given to the music you usually hear at festivals or fêtes de villages.
